St. Louis- Stuttgart Sister Cities fosters cooperation and promotes mutual understanding through direct people to people contact- all while having fun! We offer members a variety of special cultural, social, economic and sporting events. There is an opportunity to meet visitors from Stuttgart and to provide St. Louis hospitality.
Annual Dinner Meeting at the Four Seasons - November 6, 2017
Thanks to everyone in attendance. Everyone enjoyed a great evening meeting new members, learning about SLSSC programs and volunteers were recognized throughout the evening.
We elected two new board members: Barbara Dressel and Patrick Worzer and also reelected the following board members: Hon. James Conway, Wilma Prifti, Dorris Keeven-Franke, Helga Thalheimer, Larry Marsh and Ilona Wilken.
The Hon. Paul Obernuefeman spoke about the recent visit of Ambassador Wittig and developments with the Bayer/Monsanto purchase.
We presented funding and scholarships to the following:
German Cultural Center at UMSL, German School Association, Webster University German Program, John Burroughs German Program and Paul Art Space.
David Johnson with Paul Art Space will travel to Stuttgart this month for an exhibit of St. Louis artists at City Hall Stuttgart with a live stream of the opening.
Alyssa Weeks reported about developments with the Young Professionals Group. One of the items, a community book box, funded by SLSSC and built by Patrick Worzer, will be installed in Spanish Lake.
Peter Roloff - Film Producer with Maxim Films Berlin spoke about Utopia, a new book about German immigrants coming to Missouri and the movie: 1917 - Der Wahre Oktober / 1917 - The Real October Animadoc - animierter Dokumentarfilm | Animated Documentary. Peter will be at the St. Louis International Film Festival where this movie is shown on Thursday, November 9 at Plaza Frontenac.
