St. Louis-Stuttgart Sister Cities’ Officers Bob Case and Patrick Worzer, along with Sharon Robinson Lorinskas and Jason Knouft, St. Louis University, attended this year’s Sister Cities Twinning Meeting in Stuttgart from 27-29 November 2024.

This year’s topics focused on the issues and progress around urban climate change. The agenda targeted Climate protection and energy and Climate Impact Adaptation and Water Resource Management. Jason Knouft, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Biology, Saint Louis University, and Director, Freshwater Policy Institute, National Great Rivers Research and Education Center, and Expert Consultant, Water and Climate Security, U.S. Department of State, provided a presentation about water security and management of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

Newly dedicated signposts in Stuttgart’s city center featuring Stuttgart’s Sister Cities

The inauguration of the signposts marked the end of this year’s conference. 28 delegations from seven Sister Cities cities - Brno, Cardiff, Lodz, Menzel Bourguiba, St. Helens, St. Louis, Strasbourg - as well as from Khmelnytskyi and Dresden took part in the conference. They used workshops and keynote speeches to discuss climate change and the challenges this issue poses. They also exchanged their cities’ experiences on climate protection and developed joint project ideas.
